There is a reason behind everything we do in life. Travelling needs no reason, to be honest, but it makes us think about life differently, set new goals and get some adrenaline in the process. St Augustine said, “The world is a book, those who do not travel read only one page.” And he is totally right as human beings from the very beginning of evolution have a hunger for knowledge and a curiosity to explore new places.
So why do you travel?
We work our hearts out every day just to provide for our family and to lead a comfortable life. Most work schedules include at least 40-50 hours of work per week; which can be tiring, boring etc. Working people can’t stay from their duties but they can be easily manipulated to go travel somewhere as they are always looking for a new way of enjoying life and stop thinking about work stuff. For some in the west, it’s sort of a ritual to travel one or twice every year just to get relief from the work stress. There is a Chinese Proverb that says, “Don’t listen to what they say. Go see.”
When a person is stuck in a daily routine s/he yearns for new adventures or exciting journeys. Traveling is the best way to test yourself, challenge yourself and check your endurance. You can check your compatibility to adjust to new environment, discover how resourceful you are. You can do zip-lining, para-sailing, and various other adventures when you travel. No other experience can make you a better person if you don’t visit different countries, explore new cultures.
Learning aspects of new cultures, language and cuisine can be a huge part of traveling the world. But everyone should start traveling from their own home country. There are always places at your home where you can travel to learn about your culture, about your people and get a taste of different food habits. And this lesson will be with you for a lifetime as you are getting a first-hand experience and not learning anything from a textbook.
Traveling around the globe helps open your eyes to new things, new cultures and to exciting adventures. It helps to learn about yourself too; your ups and downs; how you deal with people in a totally unknown place and environment. Traveling lead to get to know fellow travelers they turn out to be the most valued number on your contact list. Skill building is also one of the things you gain through traveling; skills you don’t know you have. You don’t learn a language that easy but traveling to a different country with a whole new language can help build a basic language skill.
People travel for the adventure and the adrenaline. Zip-lining over the jungles of Peru, navigating through the maze-like streets of Venice, bargaining in the local markets of Vietnam, hopping on boats in the boat market of Thailand etc. are all the adventures people live for. Para-sailing in a beach from a whole other country is something different for all of us. Jumping on a jeep and drive through the wild safari of Tanzania creates another level of adrenaline rush you won’t find anywhere. Bungee jumping from the mountains of Nepal will do the same.
So, work hard and work smart and make time to travel for a week or two every year and make the following year much more productive; as it will help you get a new perspective in life, help you learn different cultures and you get to make new friends too.
Now a question may arise, why travel? Because you can. Because it will help you gain new experiences. And it doesn’t cost that much as it used to.
